WGPA Code of Conduct
As an organization, Windermere Go Pro Association will:
- always remember first and foremost that this program is for the benefit of the children involved;
- ensure to the best of my ability a safe place for players to play and practice;
- provide support for players, coaches, umpires, and parents to provide positive and enjoyable experiences for all;
- make sure that WGPA players and families are and stay informed about current events involving youth sports;
- will abide by and enforce the rules, constitutions, and by-laws of the AAU to the best of my ability;
- will conduct all business of the league in an open and honest manner with the good of the youth of the league my priority;
Coaches Code of Conduct
Our coaches will:
- be reasonable in our expectation of young player’s time, energy, enthusiasm, and performance on the field;
- impress on your players that they must abide by the Rules of the Game at all times;
- have and develop respect for the ability and judgment of opponents, their coaches, and umpires;
- ensure that other areas of success and growth are celebrated, not only winning;
- make sure that players are never singled out and/or ridiculed for making mistakes or losing a game;
- provide a location and/or facility that is safe and appropriate for the player's age and ability;
- Follow a physician's advice when determining that an injured player is ready to play again.
Parent Code of Conduct
Parents Must:
- support your child with positive encouragement whether they perform well or not;
- participate in child's development outside of WGPA events;
- remember that your child simply wants to have fun and encourage a love for the game;
- not argue with, jeer at, or complain about a coach's decision or umpire's call no matter how 'wrong' you feel the decision may be;
- be an example of respect and good sportsmanship for your young player in victory AND defeat.
Player Code of Conduct
Players Must:
- play and abide by the rules of the game;
- cooperate with your coaches, teammates, opponents and the umpires;
- treat all players with the same respect that you desire;
- not argue with, jeer at, or complain about a coach's decision or umpire's call no matter how 'wrong' you feel the decision may be;
- exercise control of emotions and tempers. Instead, talk to us if you're frustrated;
- be a good sport by cheering during great play, even if that means for the other team.
- play for the fun of playing, and because you love baseball;
- remember that this is a chance to have fun, improve your skills, and get confident... sometimes that requires hard work, too!
